Halloween is a holiday that frequently is not addressed in parenting plans and custody agreements.  It is not one of the “holidays” typically recognized in the Iowa Code, however you can negotiate for it or even ask for it at trial. If you do not happen to be the custodial parent on October 31st to take your child trick-or-treating, you may want to find alternative Halloween Festivities to participate in with your child.  Here are a few local Halloween events you can attend with your child:

Friday, October 27, 2017 from 5-8:30pm – Baseballoween at Werner Park-it is a dog friendly event, and there will be a fireworks show too!

Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 11am-2:30pm – the Council Bluffs Public Library is having “Roll-A-Monster” where kids can create their very own monster

Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 10am-4pm – the Union Pacific Railroad Museum in Council Bluffs invites costumed guests to explore the museum and receive non-food “treats” along the way

Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 5-9pm – the Council Bluffs YMCA is having a Halloween Pumpkin Party with swimming, a bounce house, pumpkin painting, crafts and games.  $10/family for YMCA members and $20/family for non-members

Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 1-4pm – Omaha’s Old Market Fall Festival has trick-or-treating candy stations, face painting, art projects, and a pet costume contest

Have a safe Halloween!
