As a Family Law Attorney, I am frequently asked when my “busy season” occurs. Generally, I find that most people wait until after the December holidays to start talking to me about divorce or file for divorce, with a surge in new filings occurring in the first quarter (January thru March). But why? Most of it (from my client base) can be explained because of the year-end bonuses that are paid out and tax refunds that are received this time of year.
Apparently this is common across the board for Family Law Attorneys as I found several articles that say the same thing as what I have observed.
